In three different series in the 1960s and '70s, Lucy destroys or attempts to destroy Schroeder's beloved piano. In 1969 she catapults it into the "dreaded kite-eating tree." Here she pitches the piano down a sewer, where it floats into the river and is destroyed. In a two-week series of strips from December 1978 Lucy writes a book about Beethoven in which the girl who pines for the composer violently kicks his piano over in Chapters One, Two, and Four.
